The debut of Raw

Over on WWE.com, they’ve got the first episode of Raw cut up into segmented 5-7 minute chunks for your viewing pleasure. It’s a curious historical document, but not for any reasons you might expect. Miracle of miracles, it works just fine in Canada.

It’s also filled with strange, unfortunate decisions. Rob Bartlet screws up right out of the gate (he was the worst) mispronouncing Yokozuna’s name. Koko B Ware is the first wrestler you see, outside of the Macho Man (who is fine on commentary but is such a wasted opportunity). In-ring action is poor, and Bret Hart, then-WWF Champion, is nowhere to be found. The debut episode of Nitro blows the doors off this thing.

Bobby Heenan is a ton of fun, though.
